Customs Clearance Coordinator (Import Declarant)

About the role

Join a growing logistics team in Aylesford as a Customs Clearance Coordinator, focusing on import declarations. You will use your expertise in road import clearance to ensure goods move smoothly through UK customs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import declarations via CDS, CHIEF and other platforms.
• Classify goods accurately using the UK Trade Tariff and assign correct commodity codes.
• Review invoices, packing lists, transport documents, licences and certificates for completeness.
• Liaise with HMRC, Port Health and other authorities to resolve clearance queries.
• Maintain compliance with customs regulations, Incoterms and import controls.
• Keep detailed records and support audit processes when required.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers and carriers to ensure timely release of goods.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in full road import clearance.
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures.
• Proficiency with CDS/CHIEF or similar customs declaration software.
• Good understanding of Incoterms and international trade practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
