Customs Compliance Coordinator – Southampton

About the role

The Work Shop is seeking a Customs Compliance Coordinator to join its Southampton office. You will ensure that all import and export activities comply with UK, EU and international regulations while supporting a growing global organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the UK bonded warehouse system and recommend operational improvements.
• Update duty rates, quota balances and reconcile customs data.
• Interpret tariff codes, country‑of‑origin rules and import regulations, including CBAM.
• Oversee export compliance, assist with BlueJay system usage and classify items for DFARS/FARs licensing.
• Maintain AEO authorisation, conduct internal audits and deliver compliance training.
• Report regulatory breaches, support investigations and answer employee queries.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customs, duties and export control within the UK/EU context.
• Strong knowledge of import duty calculations, tariff classification and CBAM.
• Familiarity with DFARS/FARs, AEO processes and HMRC interactions.
• Ability to conduct audits, deliver training and manage compliance documentation.
