Customs Team Leader

About the role

Reed is supporting a leading logistics and supply chain business in Liverpool that is looking for an experienced Customs Team Leader. You will be responsible for guiding a team of customs specialists to deliver compliant, efficient import, export and transit declarations while maintaining high customer service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of customs professionals to meet operational targets.
• Oversee accurate completion of customs declarations and related documentation.
• Ensure all activities comply with current UK customs legislation and internal procedures.
• Monitor workload allocation, plan resources and meet customer requirements.
• Act as first point of escalation for operational and customs‑related queries.
• Coach and develop team members through feedback, training and performance management.
• Conduct quality reviews and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and productivity.
• Support implementation of new processes, systems and customer requirements.
• Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist management with reporting, performance tracking and service reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a customs, freight forwarding or international trade environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK customs regulations and import/export processes.
• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or leading operational teams.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to compliance.
• Confident communication skills.
