Cyber Security Engineer – AI & ML Security

About the role

Checkout.com is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to lead the design and implementation of AI‑enabled security controls across its platform. You will act as the bridge between cyber security and emerging AI technologies, ensuring that AI tools, models, data pipelines and supporting infrastructure are protected while also exploring ways AI can strengthen our defence capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls for AI/ML solutions, including LLM‑based applications and model integrations.
• Assess security, privacy and compliance risks such as model misuse, prompt injection, data leakage and over‑permissioned access.
• Develop standards, guardrails and reference architectures for secure AI use across the organisation.
• Review AI use cases, architectures and deployments to ensure alignment with cyber security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Build and maintain monitoring, detection and response capabilities for AI‑related threats.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI for improving cyber security operations (e.g., alert triage, threat analysis, automation).
• Stay up‑to‑date with evolving AI security risks, attack techniques and relevant regulations (EU AI Act, ISO 42001).

Required profile

• Hands‑on security engineering experience with a strong interest in AI/ML technologies.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure and modern security engineering practices.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Data Governance, GRC, business units).
• Ability to assess risk and embed security into AI system design.
