Cyber Security Engineer – Financial Services – £95k

About the role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our financial services team in London. You will design, implement and maintain security controls that protect our infrastructure, applications and data across cloud and on‑prem environments.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security tooling such as firewalls, EDR/XDR, SIEM, IAM/PAM platforms and DLP.
• Configure and harden cloud environments (AWS/Azure) in line with security baselines.
• Support vulnerability management – scanning, patch coordination and remediation tracking.
• Build and maintain detection rules, alerts and automation (SOAR) in partnership with the SOC.
• Support incident response activities including containment, investigation and remediation of confirmed threats.
• Automate security processes using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Collaborate with architects to implement controls such as Zero Trust, network segmentation and encryption.
• Provide audit and compliance evidence for standards like ISO 27001 and PCI DSS.

Required profile

• 3‑6 years of hands‑on security engineering experience.
• Strong cloud security experience with AWS and/or Azure.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, PowerShell or similar).
• Working knowledge of networking, IAM and endpoint security.
• Familiarity with SIEM/EDR tooling and vulnerability management platforms.
