Data Analyst – Higher Education

About the role

Our client in the higher education sector is seeking a motivated Data Analyst to turn complex data into actionable insights. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to collect, validate and present data that supports strategic decisions and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and interpret data from multiple sources to inform business decisions.
• Produce accurate, timely reports and interactive dashboards for diverse audiences.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., HESA, HESES) ensuring compliance.
• Develop and maintain reporting tools using Microsoft Excel, VBA, SQL and related systems.
• Translate technical findings into clear, accessible insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Identify trends, anomalies and opportunities for process improvement.
• Ensure data quality, integrity and accuracy across all reporting activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand reporting needs and deliver effective solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Organisational ability to manage multiple reporting tasks and statutory deadlines.
• Experience working in a collaborative, customer‑service oriented environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of VBA.
• SQL querying skills.
• Experience with Power BI (desirable).
• Familiarity with survey software (desirable).
