Data Centre Technician 24/7

About the role

The Data Centre Technician works on a 24/7 shift pattern to provide hands‑on support for Vysiion’s customers in a fast‑paced data‑centre environment. You will ensure service levels are met, maintain accurate ticket records and contribute to a secure, reliable infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Install server, network and storage hardware, including associated cabling and patching.
• Perform copper and fibre optic cabling, patch panel work and cable testing.
• De‑commission hardware, prepare it for shipping and coordinate with third‑party couriers.
• Execute remote‑hands tasks such as power cycling, hardware replacement, reseating network cards and troubleshooting.
• Monitor network activity, firewall status and LED alerts using system monitoring tools.
• Conduct audits of client cabling and hardware, producing detailed documentation.
• Manage access, remote‑hands and delivery tickets for co‑location clients.
• Maintain a clean, presentable data‑centre environment and uphold ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000 and ITIL standards.

Required profile

• Professional and disciplined approach when working onsite in client data‑centres.
• Ability to work the 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern (two 12‑hour days, two 12‑hour nights, then four days off).
• Strong customer focus and clear communication with internal and external teams.

Required skills

• Server, network and storage hardware installation

• Remote‑hands procedures (power cycling, component replacement, network card reseating)
• Cable testing and network monitoring
• Firewall status monitoring and LED alert handling
• Use of ticketing systems and documentation tools
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000 and ITIL frameworks
