Data Engineer – Actuarial Data Pipelines

About the role

M&G is building a new solution to validate and transform policyholder data for actuarial modelling and assumption setting. The Data Engineer will design, develop and maintain robust data pipelines that ensure high‑quality data is available for actuarial valuation, reporting and strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines that validate and transform policyholder data to meet actuarial modelling requirements.
• Implement checks and controls to guarantee data completeness, accuracy, reconciliation and timely availability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and data suppliers to understand data needs, resolve exceptions and ensure controlled data loads.
• Monitor and optimise pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues and improve efficiency.
• Contribute to data governance by documenting standards, controls and maintaining runbooks.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of data structures, databases and data modelling concepts.
• Experience with data transformation, validation and storage processes in a heavily audited environment.
• Ability to manage large datasets with a focus on accuracy and quality.
• Familiarity with data governance best practices and audit evidence production.
• Clear communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
