Data Engineer – Azure Data Factory (Edinburgh, 80% Remote)

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing software business to hire a Data Engineer who will own the end‑to‑end delivery of data integration solutions. Working primarily from Edinburgh with 80% remote flexibility, you will collaborate with internal teams and external customers to design, build and support scalable pipelines that feed a cloud‑based platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
• Gather and validate integration requirements from customers and internal stakeholders.
• Integrate data from REST APIs, SQL databases and various cloud services.
• Deploy and manage solutions following CI/CD best practices, preferably with Azure DevOps.
• Work with engineering and reliability teams to ensure pipelines are observable, resilient and performant.
• Troubleshoot integration issues and continuously optimise existing processes.
• Contribute to standards, best‑practice documentation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Commercial experience delivering data solutions with Azure Data Factory.
• Strong understanding of ETL processes and data integration concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL databases and REST API consumption.
• Comfortable interacting with customers and translating technical details for non‑technical audiences.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
