Data Engineer – Data Migration (Hybrid, up to £500/day)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a fast‑scaling European digital infrastructure provider on a major data migration programme. Working in a hybrid London setting, you will design and deliver the pipelines that move legacy data into a new, unified operating platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build ETL/ingestion pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Pipelines, Lakehouse, Notebooks) or equivalent Azure tooling.
• Implement source‑to‑target mappings and transformation logic for the migration.
• Own data validation, reconciliation and defect resolution throughout migration test cycles.
• Develop reusable migration frameworks, including ingestion pipelines, validation routines and error‑handling mechanisms.
• Support CI/CD and Git‑based release processes via Azure DevOps.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in data engineering, integration and migration projects.
• Hands‑on expertise with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric Data Factory or Synapse Pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills for profiling, transformation, validation and reconciliation.
• Proficiency with PySpark/Spark SQL notebooks (Databricks or Fabric).
• Proven end‑to‑end delivery of a data migration project, from extraction through reconciliation.
