Data Engineer

About the role

ICAEW is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Milton Keynes team on a permanent basis. Working in a hybrid model, you will help modernise the organisation’s data landscape, building pipelines and models that improve analytics, reporting and decision‑making across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust data pipelines and ingestion processes using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Create and sustain datasets and data models that support analytics and reporting, adhering to established modelling standards.
• Contribute to data lineage, metadata management and cataloguing, including work with Purview.
• Collaborate closely with the Lead Data Engineer, Architects and Analysts to evolve engineering standards and best practices.
• Participate in pairing sessions, code reviews and shared problem‑solving with other engineers.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience delivering end‑to‑end pipelines with Azure Data Factory.
• Proficiency in Python, Spark and SQL for data transformation.
• Practical experience using Databricks in a production or near‑production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud setting.
• Solid understanding of data‑modelling concepts such as star schema and dimensional modelling.
