Data Governance Manager

About the role

Our client, a global law firm, is creating a senior Data Governance Manager position within its IT department. The role will shape and lead a firm‑wide data management and governance strategy, focusing on legal and matter‑related data to improve service delivery and commercial insight.

Key responsibilities

• Define and embed a global data governance and data management strategy.
• Act as the senior authority on data quality, ownership, and standards across the firm.
• Lead master data management for core systems such as PMS, CRM, finance, billing, and time recording.
• Collaborate with legal teams to enhance matter, client, and profitability data.
• Translate legal practice needs into practical data and reporting solutions.
• Drive data quality controls, behavioural change, and data‑led decision‑making.

Required profile

• Strong background in data governance and master data management, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Deep understanding of legal operations, including matters, billing, time recording, and profitability.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, including partners and leadership teams.
• Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic, commercially aware approach.
