Data Manager & Assistant Business Manager

About the role

Randstad Education is recruiting a Data Manager and Assistant Business Manager to join the leadership team of a vibrant, diverse school in Hackney. You will act as the school’s MIS expert while also supporting the Business Manager, ensuring smooth operation of HR, facilities, health & safety and IT functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the two Admin Offices and support staff, conduct appraisals, manage workflows and monitor budgets alongside senior leadership.
• Serve as the school’s MIS super‑user, maintain pupil and staff databases, load annual intakes and produce statutory DfE returns.
• Create timetables for data collection and generate regular analysis reports on achievement, attendance and behaviour, highlighting cohort variations.
• Act as School Examination Officer, overseeing the exam cycle, centre registrations, secure paper handling, invigilator training and results day.
• Manage safer recruitment checks, maintain the Single Central Record, update training records and submit monthly payroll sickness/absence returns.
• Coordinate GDPR compliance, respond to FOI and Subject Access Requests and maintain privacy policies as the primary liaison with the Data Protection Officer.

Required profile

• Significant experience in data management, MIS administration and reporting within an educational or comparable setting.
• Proven ability to analyse data to support pupil progress, school improvement and strategic decision‑making.
• Experience leading or coordinating administrative staff and managing workflows.
• Knowledge of DfE statutory reporting, safer recruitment procedures and GDPR requirements.
