Data Platform Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join a major transformation programme within a large enterprise technology environment. You will play a key role in developing, operating and optimising a modern cloud‑based data platform built on Microsoft technologies, supporting critical business initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise cloud data platform capabilities.
• Manage platform performance, capacity and availability.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents and service issues.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Support delivery of scalable data solutions across Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
• Implement Platform as Code and DataOps best practices.
• Monitor platform health and respond proactively to operational issues.
• Enable analytical workloads and business adoption through Power BI.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, architecture and platform teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, standards and procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Data Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar role.
• Strong background supporting and operating cloud‑based data platforms.
• Commercial experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data services.
• SQL Server administration and management experience.
• Proven ability to handle incidents, problem management and change requests within SLA‑driven environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
