Data Protection Manager – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Protection Manager to lead information governance, data protection and information security initiatives for our client in Ashford, Kent. This six‑month fixed‑term role will sit at the heart of the organisation’s compliance framework, working closely with senior leaders and operational teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee data protection and information governance across the business, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, DSPT and related regulations.
• Lead the handling of Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Collaborate with IT and security teams on cyber‑security initiatives, incident response and awareness programmes.
• Provide expert advice to senior leaders on complex data protection matters.
• Conduct audits, reviews and compliance monitoring to identify risk and improve practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data protection, information governance or privacy management.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).
• Demonstrated ability to manage SARs, FOIs and DPIAs.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
• Understanding of cyber‑security principles and incident response processes.
