About the role
Join the British Transport Police Analytics & Insight team for a three‑month, full‑time data science internship. You will work with real policing datasets to help keep communities safe and support initiatives such as Violence Against Women and Girls.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse large and complex policing datasets to identify trends, patterns and emerging risks.
- Develop hotspot analysis and predictive models to support targeted policing activity.
- Apply statistical and machine‑learning techniques to operational challenges.
- Produce clear visualisations to communicate insights to diverse audiences.
- Support the creation of analytical products that inform operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and policing teams on live business problems.

What we offer
- Pro‑rated salary of £28,486.92 plus London Allowance £4,613.61 for the 3‑month period.
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.
- Full‑time schedule (37 hours/week, 09:00‑17:00).
- Hands‑on experience with genuine policing data and exposure to evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Opportunity to develop practical skills in data analysis, predictive modelling, GIS and visualisation.
