Data Scientist & Engineer

About the role

We are building a new R&D capability focused on developing data‑driven and AI‑enabled products for legal services. The Data Scientist & Engineer will work within the Data Programme to create trusted, reusable data assets, reliable pipelines, and analytical products using Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with data owners and system teams to assess, access and combine internal and external data sources, ensuring quality and permissions.
• Design, build and operate pipelines in Microsoft Fabric and Databricks to ingest, clean, enrich and publish structured, semi‑structured and unstructured data.
• Create scalable lakehouse models, schemas and data contracts for entities such as clients, matters and legal topics.
• Implement data‑quality checks, lineage, monitoring and change management to keep data assets trusted.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and develop statistical or machine‑learning models for classification, ranking, recommendation, forecasting and anomaly detection.
• Use NLP, embeddings and LLM‑assisted techniques for entity resolution, information extraction and relationship discovery.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in data engineering and applied data science, preferably in a professional services or legal environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to turn raw data into actionable insights.
