Data Warehouse Architect (Hybrid, UK)

About the role

We are partnering with a private‑equity backed organisation in Blackburn that is embarking on a greenfield data transformation. The Data Warehouse Architect will own the design and governance of a modern enterprise data platform, enabling reporting, analytics, AI and future innovation. The role offers high visibility with senior stakeholders and the autonomy to shape the data landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Design enterprise‑scale data warehouse and Lakehouse architectures.
• Develop data platform strategies using Microsoft Fabric, OneLake and Databricks.
• Build scalable data models and storage frameworks.
• Establish robust governance, security, lineage and access‑control frameworks.
• Create modern data integration and transformation pipelines.
• Define CI/CD and deployment standards for data products.
• Drive adoption of best practices across architecture, performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into technical solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise data warehouse architecture and design.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Platform and modern Lakehouse architectures.
• Hands‑on expertise with Databricks, Unity Catalog and Delta Lake.
• Strong skills in PySpark, Databricks and SQL, including Medallion Architecture implementation.
• Experience with data modelling approaches such as Star Schema and Data Vault.
• Solid background in data governance, security and access management.
