Deaf Support Teaching Assistant (Primary Schools)

About the role

We are seeking experienced Deaf support Teaching Assistants to work with deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils in primary schools across Croydon. You will join inclusive schools that value specialist support and help children access learning, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support for deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils.
• Facilitate communication using British Sign Language and visual aids.
• Assist teachers in adapting lessons and classroom environments.
• Monitor pupil progress and report to senior staff.

Required profile

• British Sign Language qualification.
• Experience supporting deaf or hearing‑impaired children, preferably in a primary setting.
• Previous role as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant.
• Patient, adaptable, nurturing attitude with strong communication skills.
• Genuine passion for inclusive education.

Required skills
