Dealership Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Dealership Accountant to join a fast‑paced automotive group in London. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own the accounting function, deliver accurate financial reporting and provide insight that drives profitability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports to strict deadlines.
• Produce profit and loss statements, balance‑sheet reconciliations and detailed financial analysis.
• Monitor performance against budgets, forecasts and manufacturer targets.
• Analyse key financial and operational KPIs, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
• Oversee daily accounting activities, including sales, purchase and nominal ledgers.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts and manage balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and external audit processes.
• Partner with department managers to provide financial insight for decision‑making.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Qualified by Experience (QBE), Part‑Qualified or Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a dealership, motor‑trade or automotive environment is highly desirable.
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and commercial awareness.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder liaison at all levels.
