Decision Support Analyst

About the role

As a Decision Support Analyst you will help United Utilities build and continuously improve its investment decision‑making capability. Working closely with the Decision Support Manager and a wide range of business stakeholders, you will develop analytical tools, reporting and insights that drive value‑focused investment planning and portfolio optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and embedding of qualitative and quantitative investment decision‑making processes.
• Analyse data and produce reports that identify risks, opportunities and investment priorities.
• Evaluate investment options across capital programmes to support value‑based decisions.
• Contribute to portfolio optimisation approaches and decision‑support tools.
• Engage with strategic and operational stakeholders to understand requirements and promote effective use of tools.
• Provide analytical support for key business planning and regulatory submissions.
• Produce clear visualisations, reports and recommendations for investment decisions.
• Ensure quality, consistency and accuracy of analysis across the team.
• Act as a trusted point of contact for stakeholders seeking analytical insight.

Required profile

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in a science, engineering, mathematics or related discipline, or equivalent experience in investment planning, optimisation or decision support.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a talent for turning data into actionable business insight.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Curious, self‑motivated and comfortable working with complex data sets.
