About the role

Join the Ministry of Defence Commercial Function as an apprentice and support the procurement and contract management of goods and services for the Armed Forces. The 2.5‑year programme combines on‑the‑job training with a Level 4 Procurement and Supply Chain Practitioner apprenticeship, equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with procurement activities across the full commercial lifecycle, from pre‑sourcing to contract award and management.
• Prepare procurement documentation, evaluate bids and communicate with suppliers using MOD frameworks and e‑sourcing systems.
• Support contract administration and supplier engagement under the guidance of experienced commercial professionals.

Required profile

• Enrolment on the Level 4 Procurement and Supply Chain Practitioner apprenticeship (CIPS standard).
• Motivation to develop a career in public‑sector commercial procurement.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow compliant procurement procedures.

Required skills

• Use of e‑sourcing systems for procurement processes.
