Defence Director – Tech (Hybrid, £100k‑£140k)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Defence Director to lead IT strategy, architecture and transformation programmes for the UK Ministry of Defence. The role is hybrid, with one day per week in London or Cheltenham and regular client site visits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead high‑impact IT consultancy assignments across MOD departments (Army, Navy, Air, DE&S, ISS, STRATCOM).
• Mentor junior consultants and drive delivery of enterprise‑architecture and digital‑innovation projects.
• Develop and execute business‑development activities, leveraging a strong defence network to win new work.
• Write and manage bids across multiple defence frameworks.
• Contribute to the Defence Roadmap and overall strategy for the consultancy.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience working with or for the UK Ministry of Defence.
• Proven track record of winning and delivering consultancy contracts.
• Extensive network across Defence Digital, DE&S and frontline commands.
• Strong stakeholder‑management and communication skills at senior levels.
• Degree in IT, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
