Demand Planner

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Demand Planner to join our client’s head office in Plymouth. In this highly visible position you will use data insights to forecast customer demand, optimise inventory and support the supply chain in delivering the right products at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast product demand to ensure optimal stock availability.
• Analyse sales trends and demand patterns to improve forecast accuracy.
• Review and monitor promotional activity, adjusting forecasts accordingly.
• Identify and investigate variances between forecasted and actual sales.
• Manage ordering exceptions and investigate root causes.
• Place and authorise purchase orders, including system‑generated orders.
• Create and maintain ordering schedules to support replenishment efficiency.
• Forecast and manage stock requirements for promotions and seasonal activity.
• Monitor key performance indicators, inbound deliveries and outbound projections.
• Collaborate with Buying teams on product ranges, forecast exceptions and demand‑influencing activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience in demand planning, forecasting, replenishment or supply chain.
• Background in retail, wholesale or FMCG environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to data accuracy.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑departmental stakeholder engagement.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with forecasting, replenishment or business intelligence systems.
