Depot Manager

About the role

Howdens Joinery is looking for a proactive Depot Manager to take full ownership of its Ashford depot. You will lead day‑to‑day operations, build strong trade relationships and drive sales and profitability while enjoying the autonomy of having your name above the depot entrance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the depot’s profit and loss, ensuring targets for sales, margin and overall performance are met.
• Develop and nurture local trade relationships to increase sales volume and customer loyalty.
• Recruit, coach, motivate and evaluate a high‑performing team.
• Oversee account management processes and ensure consistent, high‑quality customer service.
• Set clear performance expectations, monitor KPIs and hold the team accountable.

Required profile

• Previous management experience in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment, preferably sales‑led.
• Strong commercial awareness with a proven track record of meeting sales targets and KPIs.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑first mindset.
• Hands‑on leadership style, capable of motivating and developing staff.
• Resilient, ambitious and comfortable working in a performance‑driven setting.
