Depot Manager – Portsmouth

About the role

We are seeking a high‑energy Depot Manager to take full ownership of our Portsmouth depot. You will be responsible for a £7 million P&L, leading a team of 22 and driving commercial performance while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the depot, ensuring safety, efficiency and high performance.
• Control costs, maximise fleet utilisation and improve profitability.
• Lead, develop and motivate a team of 22 staff, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
• Maintain exceptional customer service standards and resolve issues promptly.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to identify growth opportunities and implement operational improvements.
• Oversee compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a depot, branch or similar operation in equipment rental, plant hire, powered access or related sectors.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage a multi‑million‑pound P&L.
• Visible, hands‑on leadership style; comfortable being present on the shop floor.
• Resilient, energetic and able to make decisive decisions under pressure.
• Commitment to developing people and raising performance standards.
