Depot Operations Manager

About the role

Grundon is seeking a Depot Operations Manager to lead its Bishops Cleeve depot. The role is responsible for safe, compliant and efficient waste collection operations, ensuring customer service and regulatory standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing depot team, overseeing recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development.
• Manage daily depot activities, coordinating resources, people and processes to meet collection schedules.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, the company’s Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence and driver hour regulations.
• Maintain health and safety standards, reporting and investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
• Work with fleet and workshop teams to keep vehicles safe, compliant and available.
• Monitor depot budgets, track financial performance and control costs.
• Build and maintain customer relationships, supporting contract renewals and tender opportunities.
• Administer bonus and incentive schemes in line with company policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing depot or logistics operations, preferably within waste or recycling services.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities, with experience handling recruitment, performance reviews and employee relations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative team culture.
• Solid understanding of health, safety and transport legislation.
• Financial acumen to manage budgets and monitor performance.
