Depot Supervisor – Transport Operations

About the role

The Depot Supervisor will lead daily transport operations at a fast‑paced FMCG distribution site in Hayes. You will ensure efficient, compliant and cost‑effective delivery while developing a high‑performing team of drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily transport activities, including route planning, vehicle allocation and driver scheduling.
• Manage, motivate and develop a team of drivers to achieve high performance and excellent customer service.
• Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation, driver hours, tachograph rules and health & safety standards.
• Monitor KPIs, analyse performance data and drive continuous improvement in service, cost and efficiency.
• Handle escalations, delivery issues and customer queries promptly and professionally.
• Support fleet management through maintenance scheduling and regular vehicle checks.
• Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to guarantee seamless end‑to‑end logistics.
• Contribute to budget control and cost‑optimisation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a transport supervisory or team‑leader role.
• Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing drivers within a fast‑paced distribution environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to problem‑solve and make decisions under pressure.
• Proficiency with transport management systems (TMS) and basic IT tools.
• CPC qualification desirable but not essential.
