Deputy Compliance Officer

About the role

We are a forward‑thinking legal practice seeking a Deputy Compliance Officer to support our COLP and HOLP functions. You will help ensure the firm meets its SRA and CLC obligations while contributing to risk management and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain ongoing compliance with SRA and CLC Standards and Regulations.
• Act as the secondary point of contact for the SRA and CLC on regulatory matters.
• Update and manage internal compliance policies and procedures.
• Oversee risk‑management frameworks and conduct file audits.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, including SRA and CLC visits.
• Report material breaches and complaints in a timely manner.
• Deliver compliance training to legal and support staff.
• Support the MLRO and COFA where required.
• Stay informed of changes to legal and regulatory requirements affecting the firm.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a valid practising certificate.
• Eligibility to act as COLP (SRA) and HOLP (CLC).
• Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a regulated law firm.
• Strong working knowledge of SRA and CLC Standards and Regulations.
• Prior experience in a COLP/HOLP or senior compliance role is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Proactive, pragmatic and detail‑oriented approach.
