Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead

About the role

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead works within the leadership team of Queensmead House School to help protect children and young people with complex needs. Reporting to the Head Teacher, the role supports the Designated Safeguarding Lead in delivering a safe, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead in implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Liaise daily with statutory and non‑statutory agencies, parents/carers and staff on child protection and wellbeing matters.
• Coordinate and record safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate action.
• Support the wider school team in promoting a culture of safety and vigilance.
• Contribute to multi‑agency meetings and safeguarding reviews.

Required profile

• Experience working in safeguarding or child protection within a SEND or specialist education setting.
• Good knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including families and external agencies.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to manage confidential information.
