Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Part‑time, Term‑time)

About the role
The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will support the safeguarding agenda at Strode’s College on a part‑time, term‑time basis. Working 20 hours per week across 41 term‑time weeks, the role reports to the Director of Safeguarding and shares responsibility for embedding statutory safeguarding standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage safeguarding cases and coordinate inter‑agency collaboration.
- Represent the college at multi‑agency forums such as Child Protection conferences, Early Help Assessments, Team Around the Family, Child in Need and PEP meetings.
- Contribute to Section 17/Section 47 assessments and radicalisation referrals.
- Provide expert advice and training to staff on complex issues including FGM and radicalisation.
- Maintain accurate records in CPOMS and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in line with GDPR.
- Oversee secure file transfers and handle sensitive staff‑related allegations.
- Liaise with the Local Safeguarding Children Board and support the DSL with governance reporting.
Required profile
- Proven safeguarding experience in education, social care or vocational settings.
- Level 2 qualifications (GCSE grade 4/C or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Exceptional accuracy in record‑keeping and thorough knowledge of current youth legislation.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and work with vulnerable groups, SEN learners and young carers.

What we offer

- Pro‑rated salary on Scale K30‑K33 (£18,541.78 – £19,942.99 per year).
