Deputy Director – Head of Development

About the role
Brighton College is looking for a Deputy Director, Head of Development to lead and expand its philanthropic strategy. Reporting to the Director of Development and Engagement, the role will shape fundraising initiatives that support bursaries, capital projects and broader educational priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the Director to develop and implement short‑, medium‑ and long‑term fundraising strategies and KPIs.
- Manage a portfolio of major donors, soliciting gifts of £50,000‑£100,000 and cultivating relationships with parents, alumni and foundations.
- Design and oversee major fundraising campaigns, including regular giving, capital campaigns and the legacy (1845 Society) programme.
- Ensure the day‑to‑day fundraising operations run efficiently and in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Development and Engagement Office.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in development or fundraising within an educational setting.
- Strategic vision with the ability to set and monitor fundraising targets.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills with donors, alumni and external partners.
- Strong operational management capability to oversee compliant fundraising processes.

- Competitive salary between £58,000 and £63,000 per year.
