Deputy General Manager – Hospitality

About the role

Houston & Hawkes are seeking an ambitious Deputy General Manager to support the leadership of a prestigious Central London operation that blends premium hospitality, retail, and exceptional customer service. This role offers a clear pathway toward a future General Manager position within an award‑winning independent caterer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in day‑to‑day management of retail and hospitality operations.
• Lead, motivate and develop a friendly, dedicated team.
• Drive exceptional customer service and guest experience standards.
• Support administration, reporting and invoice processing.
• Help with stock control, ordering and operational procedures.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, food safety and compliance.
• Provide management cover and operational leadership when required.
• Collaborate closely with the General Manager to improve business performance and team development.

Required profile

• Previous supervisory or management experience in hospitality, catering, retail or a similar environment.
• Confident, positive leader who enjoys developing people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Professional, approachable and customer‑focused.
• Ambitious, motivated and eager to progress to a General Manager role.
