About the role
Shaftesbury Victoria School is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Deputy Head of Student Services. Working alongside the Head of Student Services, you will help create a nurturing, inclusive environment for pupils with complex needs, including autism, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and other neuro‑diverse profiles.
Key responsibilities
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for a designated student cohort.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, attendance, health, welfare and regulatory compliance.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with families and carers.
- Champion student voice, inclusion, self‑advocacy and positive behaviour support.
- Collaborate with parents, local authorities and external agencies.
- Support delivery of pastoral, emotional wellbeing, counselling and family support services.
- Promote inclusive classroom practice and equitable access to learning opportunities.
- Contribute to the school’s leadership priorities and continuous‑improvement agenda.
- Assist non‑verbal and neuro‑divergent learners in communicating their views and aspirations.
Required profile
- Resilient, empathetic and solutions‑focused with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs.
- Experienced in pastoral care or SEND provision.
- Committed to safeguarding and inclusive education.
