Deputy Manager

About the role

As a Deputy Manager at Halfords in Hailsham, you will support the Store Manager in delivering exceptional customer service and driving sales within a fast‑moving retail environment. You will step in to lead the store when the manager is absent, ensuring smooth daily operations and a positive team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example to foster a customer‑centric culture.
• Drive sales performance and maintain high service standards.
• Manage daily store operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety and retail standards.
• Schedule and manage labour effectively.
• Provide on‑the‑spot coaching to improve team performance and customer experience.
• Celebrate team successes and create an inclusive atmosphere.

Required profile

• At least one year of managerial experience in a retail sales environment.
• Proven track record of coaching and managing colleagues.
• Strong understanding of compliance and operational standards.
• Ability to meet sales targets and deliver excellent customer metrics.
• Commercial acumen and awareness of industry trends.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn Halfords’ systems.
