Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home

About the role

The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the day‑to‑day operation of Fairview, a 4‑bed residential children’s home. This role combines operational leadership with a therapeutic presence, supporting both children and staff to achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Manager in overall home management and compliance with the Children Act and relevant regulations.
• Lead, supervise and develop the staff team, promoting reflective and trauma‑informed practice.
• Ensure children receive high‑quality, consistent, therapeutic care and support their independence and life‑skill development.
• Oversee care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support and safeguarding procedures.
• Manage staffing rotas, supervision, performance reviews and contribute to recruitment and training.
• Maintain strong partnerships with families, social workers, education, health and other agencies.
• Support budget management and effective use of resources.
• Participate in on‑call rota, covering 50% of standby duties.
