Deputy Manager - Supported Living

About the role

HFT is a leading social care provider seeking a Deputy Manager for a supported living service for learning‑disabled adults. Working closely with the Service Manager, you will help create a safe, person‑centred environment that promotes independence, choice and personal growth for four young men living in self‑contained flats.

Key responsibilities

• Spend at least 20 % of your time on shift, role‑modelling best practice and mentoring staff.
• Lead by example, fostering kindness, respect and person‑centred values.
• Coordinate and oversee support across multiple flats, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance.
• Maintain safety standards and positive outcomes for service users.
• Observe team practice, provide constructive feedback and support continuous improvement.
• Develop staff confidence, skills and expertise through coaching.
• Build and maintain relationships with families, carers, partners and external agencies.
• Assist the Service Manager as needed to ensure smooth operation of the service.
• Participate in on‑call duty manager rota and provide occasional support to other services.

Required profile

• Experience managing supported living services for learning‑disabled adults.
• Level 4 Lead Practitioner Diploma in Adult Care, or Level 3 diploma with commitment to achieve Level 4 within an agreed timeframe.
• Strong leadership abilities that inspire and develop teams.
• Proactive, solution‑focused approach to service delivery.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
