Deputy Pastoral – Temporary (South East London)

About the role

This is a temporary Deputy Pastoral position at a mixed secondary academy in South East London. The role supports the school’s pastoral and senior leadership teams to maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance and student welfare. You will work directly with students, parents, and staff to keep pupils engaged in their education.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance and student welfare across the academy.
• Provide pastoral and behavioural support to students who need additional assistance.
• Work closely with parents and carers to address concerns and promote positive outcomes.
• Liaise with Heads of Year and other staff to coordinate interventions and monitoring.
• Help ensure students remain engaged with their learning and progress.

Required profile

• Experienced Pastoral Leader with a proven track record in secondary education.
• Current or former Head of Year, Assistant Head of Year, or Behaviour Lead.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, attendance management and behaviour policies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership and teaching staff.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment.
