Design and Development Engineer – Mechanical Focus

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical‑biased Design and Development Engineer to join a fast‑growing fluid technology company. You will work on pumps and systems for M&E contractors and civil engineering projects, ensuring product reliability and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate product failures, non‑conformances and performance issues using 8D, RCA and Fishbone analysis.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
• Support production, quality, service and customer support teams with technical issue resolution.
• Review and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and BOMs in SolidWorks PDM and ERP/MRP systems.
• Assess and implement engineering changes (NCR/ECR/ECO) with minimal disruption.
• Analyse field data, warranty returns and test results to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Product Management to resolve cross‑functional issues.
• Support compliance activities, risk assessments and safety reviews.
• Conduct or support testing and validation activities and produce clear technical reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in product design, development or sustaining.
• Proven experience in failure investigation, root‑cause analysis and problem resolution.
• Industry experience with pumping systems, pipework and fluid technology.
• Exposure to basic electrical/control system integration.
