Design Engineer – Advanced Technical Services (ATS)

About the role

Robert Bird Group is expanding its Advanced Technical Services (ATS) team and is looking for a Design Engineer with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. You will work on high‑profile, technically demanding projects across a range of sectors, from large‑span stadiums to nuclear and advanced energy facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver detailed structural design, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Build, analyse, and check numerical models, including nonlinear, dynamic, seismic, thermal, and progressive‑collapse simulations.
• Support projects from concept through detailed design and construction phases.
• Design and oversee temporary works such as falsework, support towers, access platforms, and lifting beams.
• Develop construction sequencing and crane erection schemes for complex structures.
• Conduct site inspections, liaise with site teams, and integrate findings into engineering outputs.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
• Implement Quality Assurance procedures across all deliverables.

• Advanced structural analysis and performance‑based design.

• Construction engineering methods, standards, and QA procedures.
