Design Engineer – Heavy Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer to join a leading global manufacturer of heavy equipment in Northern Ireland. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to develop innovative, cost‑effective solutions from concept through to production.

Key responsibilities

• Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production and supply‑chain teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Perform design calculations and analysis to validate performance and safety.
• Manage design changes and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
• Assist with prototype builds and testing activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in product design within a manufacturing or heavy‑engineering environment.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo.
• Experience with design calculations and analysis.
• Desirable experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
