Design Engineer – Structures

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Design Engineer – Structures to join its London office. The role involves delivering detailed structural designs for a variety of projects, from commercial buildings to data centres, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will contribute to high‑profile projects such as Battersea Power Station and other complex infrastructure developments, applying advanced digital design tools and modern construction methods.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development activities.
• Coordinate project delivery, allocate resources, and manage design documentation.
• Develop engineering solutions and define design philosophy for both temporary and permanent works.
• Produce preliminary and detailed structural designs.
• Perform design checking and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Required profile

• Senior Engineer with proven experience in structural design.
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills and client‑facing experience.
