Design & Technology Teacher – Secondary School (Colchester)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Design & Technology Teacher to join a respected secondary school in Colchester. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, practical lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, helping them develop creativity, technical skills, and strong GCSE outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Design & Technology to Year 8‑11 (KS3 & KS4) classes.
• Plan, prepare and deliver well‑structured, hands‑on lessons.
• Maintain effective classroom management and a safe workshop environment.
• Support students in achieving high grades at GCSE.
• Contribute to the department’s curriculum development and collaborative projects.
• Maintain and organise equipment and resources.

Required profile

• Qualified Design & Technology teacher (QTS or equivalent).
• Ability to teach up to KS4 and prepare students for GCSE.
• Enthusiastic about fostering practical creativity and problem‑solving.
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
• Open to working in a supportive, inclusive school community.
