About the role
We are looking for an experienced Design Technology Technician to join a busy secondary school in the Birmingham/Walsall area from September 2026. You will support the Design Technology department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and assisting teachers during practical sessions.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and organise tools, materials and equipment for each lesson.
- Support teaching staff during practical activities.
- Maintain workshops, classrooms and storage areas to a high standard.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs of machinery.
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of displays, projects and examination coursework.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, conduct risk assessments and keep safety records.
- Provide technical support across DT disciplines such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics and CAD/CAM.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Design Technology Technician in a UK secondary school.
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures.
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

What we offer
- Daily rate of £110–£120 inclusive of statutory holiday pay.
