Designer – Visual Investigations

About the role

You will join the BBC Verify team as a designer, creating motion graphics, maps and visual investigations that help audiences understand complex information. Working alongside journalists, open‑source analysts and producers, you will bring satellite imagery and data to life across all BBC platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Create best‑in‑class motion graphics, static and animated maps, diagrams, charts and annotations for news stories.
• Deliver visual assets under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced newsroom environment.
• Integrate design solutions across digital and broadcast storytelling, ensuring consistency.
• Communicate design concepts and decisions clearly to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with journalists and designers, advocating for user‑focused design and core design values.

Required profile

• A strong portfolio demonstrating motion and information graphics that simplify complex topics.
• Experience in a newsroom or in investigations/open‑source intelligence settings with good editorial judgement.
• Proven map‑design skills, capable of producing both static and animated maps.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
