Developer – Fixed Term (6-12 months) – £140k pro rata – London

About the role

This is a 6‑12 month fixed‑term contract for a Developer based in London, offering a pro‑rated salary of £140k. The role is hybrid, requiring 2‑3 days per week in the office, and involves working closely with technology teams, trading desks, and external vendors such as Databricks and Charles River to design, integrate and optimise trading platforms and data extraction processes.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of various trading systems.
• Develop and maintain applications and services using Python and .NET, with experience in Databricks.
• Write and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures for high‑performance data access and reporting.
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring system stability and resilience.
• Follow best practices for coding, testing, and deployment in a regulated environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer/Developer within investment or asset management.
• Strong programming skills in Python and .NET, with hands‑on experience in Databricks.
• Experience with order‑management systems, ideally Charles River.
• Familiarity with the Alpha Data Platform (ADP) is highly advantageous.
• Hands‑on experience in API development, integration and management.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL databases.
• Understanding of trading workflows, market data, and order/execution management systems is desirable.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and communication abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
