Development Finance Underwriter

About the role

We are seeking a Development Finance Underwriter to join a fast‑growing bridging and development lender in London. The role offers autonomy, innovation and a hybrid work pattern (4 days in the office, 1 day remote).

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lending process from application through to drawdown.
• Assess bridging loan applications and analyse the creditworthiness of complex cases.
• Prepare detailed credit proposals for presentation to the Credit Committee.
• Review valuation reports and due‑diligence documentation.
• Draft offer documents and ensure pre‑completion conditions are satisfied.
• Liaise with brokers, solicitors, valuers, surveyors, other lenders and internal teams to progress cases.

Required profile

• Proven track record in development finance underwriting and structured lending.
• Deep knowledge of structuring development finance deals.
• Strong understanding of property‑based lending, underwriting and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, including experience with C‑level contacts.
• Analytical mindset with confidence to make informed decisions.
• Proactive, problem‑solving attitude and commitment to great customer outcomes.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative team environment.
