Development Officer – Land & New Business

About the role

We are seeking a Development Officer to join the Land & New Business team within Chime Housing’s Development Directorate in Watford. The role supports the acquisition, feasibility and planning approval process for new‑build homes, contributing directly to the organisation’s growth ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in leading the delivery of new homes, taking responsibility for specific tasks under senior staff guidance.
• Support the Land & Partnerships Team Manager with project work related to new‑home delivery.
• Manage and brief consultants and joint‑venture partners, ensuring compliance, standards and value for money.
• Provide assistance for property disposal and new business opportunities within the Development Directorate.
• Carry out scheme appraisals, monitoring compliance with key parameters and metrics.
• Collaborate with Delivery, Sales and After‑care teams to prioritise customer and resident needs throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Experience in land, new business or property development.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint.
• Positive, adaptable attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Self‑motivated, organised and reliable.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
• Desirable: professional qualifications such as RICS, CIH or CIoB; degree‑level education or equivalent; experience using financial feasibility tools for scheme appraisal.
