Development Underwriter

About the role

The Development Underwriter will support growth across the Yorkshire region, focusing on Commercial Combined business. This trading‑focused position is centred on generating new business, strengthening broker relationships, and contributing to regional performance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and develop relationships with brokers to identify and win new business.
• Manage a pipeline of SME Commercial Combined risks, including complex cases.
• Negotiate and trade on both open market and e‑trade platforms.
• Provide technical input internally to support retention and profitable growth.
• Achieve financial targets and contribute to regional performance metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience underwriting Commercial Combined SME risks.
• Strong track record in new business generation and broker development.
• Commercial mindset with confidence in trading decisions.
• Ability to build relationships quickly and work market‑facing.
