DevOps Engineer – Hybrid, 12‑month contract

About the role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Newcastle team on a 12‑month hybrid contract. You will design, build and maintain the environments that support our software delivery pipelines, working closely with development and testing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with DevOps, development and client teams to deliver robust environments and tooling.
• Set up, configure and maintain tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube and testing platforms.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, testing and delivery.
• Automate software development processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Develop and manage server‑less integrations between systems using APIs.
• Support infrastructure provisioning and configuration using automation tools.
• Ensure high levels of system performance, security and reliability.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with public or private cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and practical use of related tools.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Proficiency in configuration‑management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Docker‑Compose, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Ability to work in an Agile/Lean environment and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills
